How Does Home Care Heroes Verify its Heroes?
The notion of introducing someone new into your everyday life can seem daunting for anyone, but that is especially so for someone who needs reliable disability support, or companionship. Whether you use non-medical care services for yourself, a loved one or a client, do you find yourself often frustrated by the endless rotation of support worker staff? Do you never seem to able to develop a special connection with anyone, or that they don’t understand you?
In this article, we provide some insight into the thorough vetting process conducted by our team to verify anyone before they come on board as a Hero.
It is of the utmost importance to us that all members of Home Care Heroes have peace of mind knowing that each and every one of our Heroes across the greater Sydney region, Newcastle and the Central Coast, Wollongong and the Illawarra region have all been carefully screened. Support should be a fulfilling, fun and motivational time for everyone involved. We do not bring onboard people who are just looking to get paid, we want people who are genuinely looking to help others and make the world a better, more inclusive place.
In order to become a Hero and join our community, a person must initially complete an online values test - to ensure their motivations, attitudes and values meet our standards. They also undergo a number of reference checks, police checks, and a Working with Children check (if they are to work with anyone under the age of 18).
Unlike many other support providers, Home Care Heroes also requires that people attend a face-to-face induction, which is currently being run via video conference sessions to remain COVID-19 safe.
Home Care Heroes also has in place a number of policies and procedures to be followed, such as the Heroes Code of Conduct – which outlines the expectations around professional conduct and the behaviour expected from all Heroes, such as acting with integrity, honesty and transparency.
