6 Stories of Kindness and Companionship during COVID-19
Home Care Heroes is passionate about reducing social isolation for people with disability and the elderly. We understand that help is needed now more than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are here for our community. We hope these stories and kindness and companionship will be a source of positivity to others during these challenging times;
“My son Flynn had a great time during the Dungeons and Dragons event, it was a good connection for him to socialise especially during COVID-19 when he can’t go outside a lot. Any other activity similar to this event would be great and he would love to re-attend. Flynn was disappointed because he has to wait another 2 weeks for the next D&G event!”- Claire, NSW
“My son Aaron hasn’t seen his Hero Jared for over 12 months since he has been travelling and is in Peru. However, Jared and Aaron have resumed spending time together via video bookings and it’s made a difference to Aaron’s emotions and behaviours”. – Julie, NSW.
“I would like to increase my video bookings. I have two kids with Filippo 111 A (Mucopolysaccharidosis) and they both have benefitted with Zoom sessions. I am astonished that they managed to use Zoom and the Hero is teaching them art therapy and exercise.” – Diane.
“My mother is 90 years old and has benefitted tremendously with your service. My mum is very active and became close friends with her Hero. They do video calls, talk through Facebook, get their nails done and in her own words, are just like best friends. Thank you!” – Home Care Heroes Member.
“My daughter has been a Member with Home Care Heroes since 2017 and has benefitted tremendously with your service. I connected with your service the most due to the ability to handpick Heroes for my daughter and we now have a great team of 5 Heroes that rotate their services. In the past we used a different service provider, but there was always someone new who didn’t understand my daughter’s needs so it was really challenging to develop trust. I rarely need to contact Home Care Heroes as the service is going really well.” – Judith, NSW.
“I just wanted to say thank you as I truly believe you are HEROES! My son has autism and has come out of his shell with the Hero’s service as he has had difficulty socialising in the past (they have been cooking together). Now I want to find a Hero to run a marathon with my son” – Home Care Heroes Member.
